Description | Image with horizontal channels running across three sections, printed in green and green-black with blue area overprinted. In an interview at Glasgow Print Studio on 11th May 2011, the artist explained that the image was influenced by different strata of rock, as seen in cliffs and stacks, particularly in the North East of Scotland. It was created from four different plates with an area of print printed from the surface of the plate like a relief print instead of intaglio. Reeves described the image as “a combination of memory, of drawings, almost like a close up.” The shapes are bold and abstract with the image focusing more on the shape and “the design of waves, as they come in and go out”. He can't remember if he used a camera to record the shapes and patterns but he had a lot of drawings to work from which showed the 3 stages of the wave. The quality of the ink also has a watery effect, darker in some places than others, as if it is pooling. |
